At the Queen Beauty Network (QBN), we are thrilled to announce the launch of our original documentary, "Limitless," which delves into transforming and redefining the world of the Miss Universe Organization (MUO). This documentary aims to shed light on the evolving landscape of pageantry, highlighting the strides made towards inclusivity, diversity, and empowerment. With Miss USA being today's "hot topic," we couldn't think of a better time to bring you this exciting new documentary.
The Evolution of Miss USA and MUO
Beauty pageants have long sparked debate, questioning whether they empower or objectify women. Recognizing these valid concerns, various pageant systems worldwide have actively pursued measures to promote diversity and inclusion. "Limitless" takes you behind the scenes of the Miss USA pageant, offering an in-depth look at the rule changes and milestones that have reshaped this event.
The Miss USA pageant has evolved significantly since its 1952 start as a local swimwear competition. One notable change occurred in 2012 when the MUO announced that transgender women could compete. This was a monumental step towards inclusivity, opening the doors for many aspiring contestants who had previously been excluded.
In 2018, the age limit for Miss Universe contestants was increased from 26 to 28, reflecting the changing perceptions of beauty and maturity. However, it wasn't until 2022 that the MUO decided to accept divorced, maritally annulled, married, or widowed women and mothers as contestants. This was followed by eliminating the age limit in 2023, allowing women of all ages to compete.
